Accessability in the work place

What does accessability mean and look like?

Can anyone, regardless of their physical or mental ability can get to their place of work or is able to visit someione in your work place without assistance, unless they request assistance. Is that assistance available for them?

Why is accessability important?

Because everyone benefits from ease of access. Everyone can use a ramp, blind or partially sighted people often find a ramp easier to navigate than steps, a wheelchair user can only use a ramp, everyone else can also use a ramp.

Automatic doors are a godsend when bringing a tray of coffee into the office, they are also a godsend for a wheelchair user.

How many signs do you have in Braille? And for the colourblind? What about deaf people, can anyine in your company use sign language?

Does your workplace culture promote accessability?

Are you educating your teams about accessability? How many people do you employ who need accessability, that also can speak about your work place culture and your values!

Reinforce DEIB and your values with accessability

When teams see diverse groups succeeding together – across levels, functions and backgrounds – it reinforces that everyone shares that feeling of belonging and that feeling is genuinely open to everyone. This visible unity strengthens trust, belonging and discretionary effort.

Amplify employer branding

Candidates and clients want to see how you work together and how diverse your teams are. High-impact visibility around accessability and  across careers pages, social channels and proposals shows energy, creativity and results, attracting talent and partners who value your approach.

Support leadership storytelling

An inclusive work place culture gives CEOs and COOs credible messages for all-hands meetings, strategy sessions and culture updates. They tell stakeholders – boards, investors, customers – that your people deliver when it counts.

Turn your accessable culture into a business improvement asset

People who work well together are more productive, more engaged and happier. Businesses benefit from higher levels of collaboration, higher productivity, better retention and from attracting better quality applicants, all enabled by greater accessability
