Authentic, non posed people photographs

Not posed photographs are difficult to do, yet people still try and make people pose even though they are uncomfortable and don't enjoy the experience.

I won a job recently because I promised I would not make my client pose for the camera.

There are far better ways to capture a truly authentic image. If someone is doing something they love, there is an inner energy that comes across, this is completely missing in a posed shot because all the subject is thinking about is being photographed.

But you need to be looking at the camera to engage your audience! Not all the time and if you are good at subject observation, you can capture them when they are looking in the direction of the camera without realising it, this is the art of non posed photography.

Interaction.

This is also the key to story telling, again not with the camera but with others, other people, other animals, even machines and automation, things that will engage the viewer and make them want to ask questions. This is the power of authentic, non posed people photographs

Conversations often produce the best expression of energy, passion and vibrancy and these are great to observe and capture, usually when the subject is listening as a talking mouth can produce some very interesting shapes and expressions.

The informal, not posed image is where we specialise, we love to work with people and show them doing what they love.
