You have to see the world from a different perspective before you realise anything is wrong.
You have to see the world through someone else's eyes in order to appreciate everything is not as easy as we think.
I recently took a walk along a canal tow path, nothing too unusual about that you might think, tow paths are nice and level and easy to walk on and they can be.
However, this time I took a friend with me and he is in a wheel chair and sudden;y we are looking at a very different perspective, access to the towpath was impossible in a wheel chair, even for non disabled people access was difficult which was a bit of an eye opener!
Some gradients were impassible because of the lack of upper body strength, the electric bike attachment my friend uses struggled and on two occasions I had to manually push him, otherwise he would have been stuck!
Accessibility is about access for all, without any difficulty and it is clear there is a long way to go but every thing that raises awareness can only help which is why I am keen to do my bit and through my photography, highlight the areas that need improvement, but more importantly, celebrate the successes because every success means something has changed for the better.
DE&I photography is a powerful way to communicate, especially from the other persons perspective, change needs to be seen, organisations, companies and firms need to show how the changes they are making are having a positive impact on their people.

PD: The picture shows a white male in a wheel chair, he as short brown hair and is wearing a dark puffa style jacket, blue trousers and blue and white trainers. He is at the top of a steep slope and he is holding onto his wheel chair as it is too steep for him to navigate down by himself.
